....I really don't know how successful I was in breaking this information down into understandable bits for the students, hopefully they found this helpful and not just overwhelming! I'll return with the eighteenth and final installment of this fall figure madness soon....

Figure Drawing Fall 2010 Part Fifteen


...and as promised a quick return for part fifteen, these drawings are from a summer workshop on exaggeration principles for the figure and using the figure to communicate stories. Our model once again is the inspiring Jason Farrah...


...details of the above full sheet, this was concentrating on the ideas of squash and stretch and applied and directional forces...


....then we got into the idea of "plusing" poses and a concept Walt Stanchfield called "clearing the stage". It's really all about making sure that gestures really clearly tell the audience their story...
