Day One - Daily Drawings

Day One of my new daily drawing commitment - The Magician

A Variety of New Drawings

Some observation based works that I've been meaning to post, I still do plenty of drawing by eye! All traditional except the first one, which is Adobe Photoshop.

Self-Gif-traits

Some dumb fun as a class demo on sketching out self-portraits based on what you think you look like, to state the obvious, my recent obsession with making Gifs comes back up...

...Feeling some Bob Ross / Yo Gabba Gabba magic on the second one...
More stupid stuff soon.

Another Shot Design

A more recent shot design, well, recently finished, this one was a thumbnail that sat around for about a year before I got around to actually using it. I used an approach that's more typical of how I draw comics. Below are two process gifs

A Rare Character Design with Process

Let's start with the basic silhouette

The finished line art with some color

And a first for me, a process gif

Some more sketches

Here's a quick sketch of Kanan Jarrus from the Star Wars Rebels Cartoon, something I've enjoyed quite a bit over the last year.
Followed by the first test sketch I've ever done with Manga Studio 4, so far I'm liking it but still need to familiarize myself with it. The piece above was with Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 which I'm much more comfortable with (and yes my cpu is starting to show it's age).

I'll be posting some traditional media stuff soon as I'll be documenting several years worth of drawings this coming week.

SHAPE FACES!

Just something I've started playing with...funky, funky shape faces. These were done over random photos from my Pinterest board "Inspiring Shapes" apparently that's my code for things to make horrible and ugly faces from. These were a LOT of fun to do.

One last batch of Costumed Model Drawings

For the last session of quick sketching for the Digital Drawing Class we worked one more time with Adrianna who brought her great Harry Potter themed costume! As usual we started with really fast warm up gestures and then moved into a few short poses.

Two more pieces also with Procreate

These two are something a bit different, the first is from a basic demo on sighting and measuring from a summer program for high school students that I teach every year for the college. The second is from a class field trip to the Divine Comedy exhibition that featured forty different African artists interpreting the work through drawing, painting, film, installations and photography. I actually combined two of my favorite pieces into the second image.

More Procreate figure work

Here's some more from another session, Procreate has some really great default tools that you can adjust and save, most of these are one to two minute poses.

Some other digital figure drawing

These were done with The Procreate App on an iPad with a Wacom Creative Stylus. It's my go to drawing app when I'm using a tablet like this. All of these are thirty to sixty seconds.
